The Shadow Lords update made this game awesome. You now get 1 free character (Jago) and 1 rotation character. The new mode offers tons of replay-ability and micro transactions are not imperative to succeed. This new mode could be described as an FTL style rogue-like fighter. Max roster is 3 for this mode. So my 1 character purchase was well worth it. (1 char purchased) + (1 free Jago) + (1 rotation char) = Full Roster. Old review: Fun, but this is definitely not a free to play game. There is no way to unlock other fighters without ponying up the cash. Either go all in and expect to make a purchase, or just pass on this game. It really isn't worth the HDD space if you are going to play it as a demo. As a fighting game it is excellent. I just really dislike the pricing model. They do sometimes have characters on sale for $0.99 if that is enough to tempt you.

So, the game is free as you see right up there, yeah that button. Then you download it and it goes FOREVER. It took literally hours to download, Windows 10 sucks. So then when it FINALLY downloads i'm like YAY LEMME OPEN IT UP!! So then I open it up and look and it says that I only have one character so to open the rest, I'd have to buy it, and that sucks like who is going to play with one character? The game is good though because of the graphics, animation, design, music, and everything in the game EXCEPT that you have to buy all the rest of the characters just to play as them or you play as the only character in the game. It's an okay game because everything is mostly based off of buying but the game itself is pretty well created..

great game but a bit misleading to those aware, Killer Instinct has been around for about 2 years or so but just moved to PC with cross servers in the recent months. Since it's in such a far stage from its original release on console it will not come with all the content free. the Initial price of the game with all its content is 50$

It's great to finally be able to play this. It runs great on my main desktop. Max settings and no slowdown at 1080p. On my Asus G74SX-DH71 laptop, I need to turn the graphics and resolution way down to pass the in-game benchmark. Even then the game doesn't look half bad. For a 5 year old laptop, I'm amazed this game will even play on it. If you like fighting games, play Killer Instinct. If you don't enjoy fighting games, well, try it anyway since it's free.

I loved Killer Instinct back in the day, while the graphics on this one are L33T...I feel it is a set up offering the download free and then charging for characters and everything. Cheap different colored skins....Meh tear.

It runs great on my Lenovo Y40. My laptop is midspec at best and it runs Killer Instinct great. I know because I also play the game on xbox one. The keyboard input works well. Cross buy also works without a hitch.

I enjoy the new characters in season 3 as well as the Shadow Lords game mode. I hope that Microsoft and Iron Galaxy continue to support it for a good while. Plus, you're now able to earn KI Gold in game! It's still painfully slow, but it's possible! :D

Cons )Doesn't seem to lower price of season bundles when you buy individual fighters )Hoping for more visual options )UWP problems, like Not being able to choose where to install, and the download was a pain Pros )Runs Amazingly well on my PC Phenom II X4 925 2.8 GHz 8 GB RAM GeForce GTX 960 2 GB )Great Gameplay with new and old features and tactics )Sounds like old KI and Looks BETTER )Supports Xbox 360 controllers (though I'm hoping for more controller support since I have a PS3 stick and don't have about $100 for a new Xbox arcade stick) )F2P means that you have a full-bodied Demo )built-in Benchmark Utilities ALWAYS are good decisions!

Not much I don't like, so here's what I like: Hands down, one of the easiest fighting games to learn. I taught my friends in less than an hour about the basics. That doesn't mean that the game isn't hard to master, but it's easy to get through the initial barrier of entry. Impeccably Balanced Roster. At the largest fighting game championship for this game last year, every single character was played in the top 16. Nuff said. Works smoothly and trouble free with my Xbox One controller. And my progress transferred over! If you like the game a lot, I would recommend the Supreme Edition of the game for maximum value, but you can always go for the cheaper editions of the game, or try the free character of the week! Every character, yes, EVERY character, is fun to play. I find something new every time I jump online or in training mode. Combo System is absolute genius. No two combos are ever the same, you make them up on the fly, and there's a way to counter everything.

This game does not support 3440 x 1440p. I have a 34 inch 21:9 monitor and do not enjoy playing games that do not support my resolution. Black bars on the side suck...

I just started to play Killer Instinct 3 today with my computer. I like the new game and I want to learn to play it very good. What I don't like so far is that the graphics should be better after 19 years from the first game. The 2 arcade games had great graphics at their time in 1994 and 1996. Anyways, thank you very much for making a new Killer Instinct game that's available to play with the computer :D I hope you keep making more Killer Instinct games. Killer Instinct was the best game in my childhood and I went very often to play the arcade games :D

The thing with Killer Instinct is interesting I usually play it once or twice but I never get engaged. It is because of the horrible microtransactions that keep me from enjoying this game. Pros: Arbiter Lots Of Characters Works on Low End Machines Awesome Combat Cons: Horrible Microtransactions

Its a good remake, effects and good feelings are there, runs great on my alienware alpha. However it's not free to play at all, it is like a free demo as you can't even try more than 1 character. Please UX designers... let me know the price of any individual fighters clearly, it prevents me from buyng anything. I just don't feel comfortable putting my password to buy without knowing the price of a fighter. Played the game for about 15 minutes and couldn't find the price of a single fighter (only for bundles and artwork) may be it's there but I missed it because it's not clear. Anyway you've lost a purchase here.

I really appreciate the effort that they put into the game, but I they should just have simple point and click actions. Also, the resolution could probably be better.

I really love this game. Iron Galaxy was quick to fix the issue with high-refresh rate monitors, but getting it to run properly on PC at this time is a chore. Screen tearing was an issue with the first build, but the second build didn't have this issue, instead the v-sync was causing input lag and had no tearing with it off. There were far too many hoops to jump through to get this game playing online... Properly setting up Teredo and configuring my firewall with it took me a few weeks to do, and I'm rather computer-savvy. That being said, once I did get the settings right (with a lot of trial and error) it plays wonderfully online, with virtually no lag at all. Disconnections and desynchronizations still happen on rare occasion, but, for the most part, the net play is extremely stable. Graphically and performance wise, the game is wonderful; well optimized and beautiful... Being able to play in 1440p without a single frame-drop makes me never want to play on the XB1 again.

I got rid of my X1 two years ago, but according to this game I need to login to my X1 in order to use my save file. Great job Microsoft... you can't even make a decent PC game. I previously wrote a few updates detailing my experience with Killer Instinct PC. My content from the Xbox version of the game did not carry over and so called fix that Microsoft implemented in the game did not work. No one has responded to any of this so I'm writing yet another review for this subpar PC port of Killer Instinct. If you don't own a Xbox and you previously played this game on the X1 do not download this game because you won't have access to any of your characters. I refuse to purchase all of the content twice and the devs should be ashamed of themselves for making the game this way. It's bad enough I have to deal with this crappy store to download the game, but now it's not even worth playing because of this crap. I'll recommend every hardcore fighting fan I know to skip this game.

If you are on the fence about this game, just get it. You have the right mindset and should not be disappointed. I was sold on Killer Instinct Season 1, and Season 2 was a no-brainer. Season 3 of Killer instinct goes to show how much love and respect the Devs have for their Fans, something uncommon in 8th Gen Gaming. It is a marvelous title, I am confident that you will enjoy it.

Plays great on box Xbox One and PC, and the save sync is really nice! The game itself is a lot of fun, and the free version gives you a free taste. Must play if you enjoy fighting games, just take the time to learn some of the combo & combo-breaker systems. Have fun!

I've been waiting years for this, and I'm not disappointed at all. The game runs super smooth for me, and is just an extreme blast to play. If you love fighting games, you really need to consider picking this one up. This game strikes a near perfect balance of simplicity and complexity. Combos are easy enough to pull off while also being satisfying, but the complexity comes with how you structure them. Do you go all out and risk the opponent breaking your combo, do you try to predict the risk and counter break them, do you focus on doing shorter, but harder to break combos, the list goes on, and the mind games get intense. The netcode is amazing. Probably the best in any fighting game out there. It's rare to have issues with it at all. Out of all the fighting games to come out on PC in recent years, this has been the only one that has constantly kept my attention, and with such a great community and support from the devs, I don't see this changing anytime soon. Definitely buy this.

This is a pure example of how to dump a massive manure pile on what once was a great game. Feels like a damn mobile fighter plagued with "cards" and micro transactions (just like in mobile devices). I have been playing this game since season 1 and I honestly urge any potential buyers to STAY AWAY.....TREAT IT LIKE A BAD PLAGUE. I hope they rethink this "game" and reverse it to the way it was. If I could refund it I would 100%, such a nasty surprise for people like myself who supported this game from day one.

For those of you who aren't aware. Two games were great growing up in the 90's. Mortal Kombat and Killer Instinct!! When people of the "New Gen" say KI was around for two years or so.. is complete utter stupidity :) 1994 KI was introduced by Nintendo and was only released for Nintendo and came with a Compact Disk (CD). This is just a remake btw 5 out of 5!!

avatar

29 April 2016

This is mainly due to the fact that the 50 dollar version on Xbone comes with the arcade versions KI 1 & 2. But other than that, it's a great game with mechanics easy enough to learn and master.

I have an AMD Phenom 2x6 @4.0 ghz with an r9 280x and this game runs flawlessly. It plays and feels more like killer Instinct 2 than killer Instinct 1 from back in the day. Personally I find most of the fighting games now days to bland and repetitive but this game is a breath of fresh air for the genre. The gameplay and online play is a blast just don't expect getting into it without forking over some cash, all the characters need to be paid for except the weekly rotation character. For a game like this you are better off mastering one character at a time and paying for each character or purchasing a package.
