Love that this came to the windows ecosystem! Two criticisms: The extra keyboard they provide has dead space between keys. It is possible to press between two keys and nothing will happen. It makes the keyboard feel unresponsive. I stumbled upon this problem literally 5 seconds onto playing with the app for the very first time. I'm writing this review in less than 3 minutes after purchasing and installing! Also not helping that unresponsive feeling is the dot indicators in the keyboard don't update until the slider animation finishes. Last but not least- no tool tip answers. A simple query of 5x5 on other platforms would show =25 in a tool tip before you even submit. This is the first release though, and it's spectacular in all other aspects, the above things I've pointed out are incredibly insignificant. Worth the cost.

Cortana integration is a must-have for this app, but it's otherwise good.

Very good job on replicating website look and feel and still make it metro. The inclusion of special characters keyboard is very well thought and welcome. Kudos!

I am 55 years old and I only finished high school. I don't understand everything this app has to offer. But, I can't resist just pouring through all that it has to offer. Very well done.

This app is appears native. It has a slick double keyboard where the top keyboard can be swiped to a different set of characters (think math, Greek letters, etc.). I'm unsure of this is a rarely used Windows Phone feature or a very well done app addition. Being WolframAlpha it can handle interesting queries like "(0.5*(united states military budget))/(college students in united states)". There are many categorized examples and a random button in the menu, but is otherwise pretty simple (except the obvious WolframAlpha capabilities). Sadly there is currently no Cortana integration. You also cannot use "Flow" on the keyboard, and it's difficult to select long query strings, but these are mostly current Windows Phone limitations. Certainly the query window could expand a bit, and perhaps be allowed down over the top keyboard. I think WA could do a cool live tile, but haven't. For the most part, pretty shiny! No trial, but you probably already know WA's quality.

I think I have bought this app in some form on every major operating system. Of course, you could just use the website, but this is such an incredibly useful service for me, especially when I'm at school, that it's worth spending the $1.49 for the convenience and the polish of having the app. Come to think of it, this is the ONLY app I have ever bought on every OS I've used, and is one of the first I download on a new device. I owe my success in most of the physics, math, and chemistry I have taken to the Computational Knowledge Engine.

I like the wolf ram but untill I see Cortana voice controlled integration I will not give it a 5 stars. It is possible to do. Download MSDN voice search and integrate there template to your text box variable string. The syntax is easy. Just use the template and see if you can add a active trigger to dictate the response. Cortana integration is not hard to do, do it and people will use it more then any other query engine. Cortana is a good thing. Don't fight it! Take it over. Even talk to Microsoft to see if you can get full integration and redirect all queries like Siri.

It would be good to see more windows phone integration, Swype like keyboard and Cortana.

How cool is this? Great app, near infinite uses, and a fun time waster as well. I hope we get a transparent tile option so that it will be perfect!

As always Wolfram Alpha is an incredibly useful tool; I love the extra keyboard features and the fact that this app is more than a website wrapper. However, it needs a bit more polish to reach perfection. Please add support for the WP8.1 Word Flow keyboard and Cortana integration. Then, this'll be a real five star app.

I'm currently in school studying to become an engineer. This app has helped me in nearly every class I've taken, from research papers, to lab reports, to Multivariable Calculus, and even on homework questions in chemistry and physics. The step-by-step solution is especially amazing with math problems (especially integration). My only pet peeve is that, when I set this up on a multiple display on my surface, the app only seems to work when on the surface screen, not on my second screen. If this is fixed, this app will literally be perfect.

I love wolfram alpha! I had this on my Android phone, and I fell absolutely in love! I'm a pharmacy student, and this app is perfect. Every student should have this app, it's well worth the $2.99 investment. It amazes me with what this app can do, very rarely will it not be able to do something. It is my algebra and trigonometry, calculus tutor! I was sad when I lost this app when switching over to WP from Android, so happy to have this app again, never going back to Android!

The program has crashed multiple times in a row when solving differential equations. I don't find it to be stable at the moment on PC. I'm hoping this bug gets addressed in a future update.

Used WolframAlpha online to help me though calculus problems. Rather than just giving you the answer, the program gives you step by step instructions on how to solve it. It can also assist in programming, sciences (such as chemistry), and much more.

Excellent, it provides the step-by-step solution.

Only allowed to enter 25 characters so make sure your question is short. So far it's okay

An app that is definitely worth the $3. But it would be really nice if the computation time is reduced.

Excellent app; I use it on my Surface machine and it delivers just as promised. A couple of things would earn a five star rating: the ability to capture results (like the plot of a graph) far beyond what the current share feature allows, and offline functionality, even if it must be limited due to the lack of connection to the Wolfram servers. I envision something like a graphing calculator when used offline. Other than that, I think the app is excellent.

Thank you Wolfram!! This app is GREAT!!! Only feature that I request is to be able to select a box completely for full screen purposes :). Sometimes the texts and graphs are small and I think it should take up the whole screen instead .

One of the few apps I was missing on WP. Glad to see it finally. Like the fact that I can use an app with this kind of power on my phone again. Hopefully it will be continuously updated

The alphabetical keyboard should use swipe type like it normally would in any app.

They really put in the effort to deliver a top notch application. WA being awesome as always. Indispensable if you're studying math in any way. I'm sure it's useful for other things as well.

Don't know if it is my connection speed but this app seems slow.

I find it kind of annoying that I had to pat for this after paying for the student access on the main website for nearly 50 bucks, But this app has been helpful.

Definitely worth a few bucks! This app is a technological marvel. I love it, keep up the good work!

This app is a great one. For the computer, it is not quite as handy as it is on a phone/tablet, but it works the same. Very helpful calculations.
