To use on PC, you must have the Xbox ELITE Controller and the USB cable. If your MICROSOFT-BRAND controller (no 3rd parties) does not have INTERCHANGABLE CONTROLS and ADDITIONAL PADDLES under the controller, you have the *wrong* controller for this app. This controller requires the USB cable to connect to a PC with this app. A wireless adapter will not work for this app. Please, read before reacting. If it's not working, make sure you have all of the requirements exactly as specified. It works under the EXACT conditions that it specifies.

Was a bit worried by all the negative reviews, but tried it anyway. I left the controller plugged in on the counter (extra precaution so I didn't bump the cord) and didn't touch the PC at all while my new Bluetooth enabled (so non-elite) controller was updating. I got worried when the light went out on the data cord (its usually on when its plugged in), but the update kept showing progress so I withheld panic. Eventually everything wrapped up fine and now the Bluetooth connection seems to be established more quickly and remain more stable, which was the point. If you're here to update your Bluetooth controller just follow the directions and you should be fine.

When it detects that a controller has been connected, it shows a picture of that controller. Nothing else. No options, no prompts, nothing. However, updating the Wireless Adapter driver via the device manager (as suggested here in the reviews) did fix my audio issue.

*Updated Review* Well there obviously was an update at some point since the original release, as well as an update for the controller and now customizing the controller through wireless is no longer an issue. The app and controller synced fast with no errors along the way, so overall, I'm now satisfied with the pairing between the wireless adapter and the pad. We now just need the ability to map ANY key on pc to at least the paddles for the most amazing functionality. Being able to quicksave/load with a controller would special.

It lacks some customization that it seems like it would need. The interface needs a little work to be more user friendly. The biggest complaint I have though is that this app only works if the elite controller is plugged in via USB, which negates the use of the wireless adapter that I just bought (and was released on the same day as the elite controller). For something that costs so much money, you'd think that basic functionality would have been included from the start. Until wireless support is added I don't have much use for the app at all.

So I picked up the Elite controller and this app with the intention of having a controller with back paddles. To my extreme dismay (given the price of the silly thing), the back paddles are a lie-- they can only be bound to existing face buttons. This is the year 2015, we're all PC users here-- can you please step up the functionality of your remapping application? I shouldn't need to jump through hoops to get a $150 controller to have useful bindings...

My controller was updated to version x.x.xx.x, but I have no idea what that means because there are no patch notes... Also, there's no controller configuration for any controller but the elite, seems kinda silly MSoft.

I'll post an update, after editing. *Does NOT work with Windows 10 and Xbox One Controllers UNLESS you have purchased the new Xbox One *ELITE* Controller, and have updated to the new public release on Windows 10 Anniversary.

If you look here http://support.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-on-windows/accessories/xbox-one-wireless-controller-differences-on-windows-operating-systems it says. "Firmware updates" "Supported via USB and Xbox Wireless Adapter for Windows on a Windows 10 PC running Windows Anniversary Edition (using the Xbox Accessories app). Not supported via Bluetooth" This is not true the only way to update a controller is through a USB cable, and this app. The only other function of this app is to map buttons on elite controllers.

After updating to the latest firmware through this app and after disconnecting and reconnecting I get this error. "There's a problem with our connection to your controller. Disconnect, reconn-" The text just cuts off like that then has the error code 0x800700EA. When I reconnect the Elite controller the program crashes. This is through USB, by the way. When I try this with my regular controller it shows a graphic of the standard controller and prompts for the firmware update but just sits there for a minute then tells me it can't update the firmware in the controller. The controller still works but I'm just sad I can't use any of the cool software features.

No sound, no rumble, initially (FIXED**). The app was released on the 27th, then new drivers on the 28th of October. If you're using the wireless PC adapter and have the same problem as I did, go to device manager > Network Adapters > Xbox Wireless adapter for Windows > right click > Update driver via internet. The new driver will fix you right up. I must say, xbone controller on PC with wireless sound and rumble, is epic.

Don't know what all the 1 and 2 stars are for. Works fine on my pc. I'm starting to think maybe they are trying to use an old controller.

I was expecting the same experience on the PC as on the XB1 - and figured this would be a bit easier but it is awful by comparison.... And I would only give the XB1 app 3 stars because it lacks descriptions as to what some setting do.

This app no matter what you do will recognize a regular xbox one controller. it gets stuck with the picture of a xbox one controller, so no firmware update for me. and as for the elite controller, the only way I was able to get it to show was by connecting through micro usb as well as disconnecting the wireless adapter before plugging it in and opening the app. very annoying I don't want to wreck my motherboard disconnecting and reconnecting the already flimsy wireless adapter. that's the first fix it needs second would be being able to connect the regular xbox one controllers to this app

I was worried seeing the other reviews, but decided to take the plunge. Controller was recognized, updated the firmware properly, and works fine afterward. Do not expect anything fancy. (like controller configuration, which is locked to the Elite controller) This just lets you update the controller firmware.

And it just did what I expected.

Just got the Xbox One Wireless Adapter for Windows and it works great, rumble and everything (because I'm on the latest Insider Preview W10 build). However, the features listed for this app include the ability to upgrade your controller's firmware, but all the app does is show me a picture of an Xbox One controller. I don't actually own an Xbox One and would like to be able to update my controller without buying a $350 piece of hardware.

It does what it's supposed to do, but only if you have your Elite controller plugged into a USB port. It does not work with the wireless adapter, it detects my Elite pad and I can rename it and it syncs up, but it won't load the configure screen. I wish it worked as well as it does on my Xbox One, don't know if it's an issue with the adapter or if it's a problem with the app itself. Hopefully Microsoft will soon fix the issue. Edit: I have the newest drivers for the wireless adapter installed.

Just what the Dr ordered! Those complaining- Turn on PC, log in, Connect Elite to PC Via USB cable supplied, Log In auto install drivers, open Xbox Accessories App, Close it, Reboot, and Bam!

App is useless, does nothing other than show picture of controller. Bought the wireless adapter and it works but no vibration at all which is unfortunate. Finally get rid of cable just to lose rumble.

avatar

27 October 2015

Just shows a picture of my controller, no functionality. Xbox support site claims this will help fix audio issues with the controller, but audio still doesn't work.

avatar

18 April 2017

It won't detect my controller.

avatar

28 November 2016

Why can't I remap the buttons just because I don't want to pay for the more expensive controller.

28 October 2015

This is why I bought the controller, and this app supports my buy

avatar

27 October 2015

I was hoping this would fix the lack of vibration, however when I turn on the app it just sits at a screen showing an xbox one controller.

avatar

24 May 2017

I don't know why the app cannot find my controller which is connected by USB. All things are good, but the app still shows that you need to connect a controller.

avatar

19 May 2017

Awesome that Microsoft did this, it's a really good way to support the controller users!

18 April 2017

Able to get app to see controller. Recognizes switch from Slot 1 to Slot 2 and can rename controller. Configure button causes crash. Unable to configure controller. Tried both with wireless adapter and USB cable. Disappointed I can't customize the controller that is supposed to be customizable.

It doesn't see my controller no matter how I connect / disconnect it. I can still control the menu... I know it's connected and the computer sees the controller...
