Token2Shell/MD

Token2Shell/MD is a rock-solid SSH client with session tabs and resizable floating terminal windows. Along with XTerm/ANSI/VT100/VT102/VT52 terminal emulations and TELNET/TCP/Serial/Bluetooth connection types, Token2Shell/MD supports comprehensive SSH2 authentication and cryptographic methods. Token2Shell/MD also supports Windows 10 Mobile smartphones and ready to run flawlessly in Continuum mode. Please visit http://token2shell.com/md for more information. // USAGE TIPS & NOTES - Want to use the Bash shell on Windows 10 (WSL) from Token2Shell/MD? http://choung.net/howto/token2shell-md/opening-linux-bash-shell-on-windows-10-from-token2shell-md-or-any-terminal-emulator - Cannot connect to your VirtualBox or VMware from Token2Shell/MD? http://choung.net/howto/token2shell-md/workaround-for-connecting-to-host-only-virtualbox-or-vmware - Are you seeing your password while typing? Try disabling "Character Input Buffer" option. http://choung.net/howto/token2shell-md/fixing-character-input-delay/ - Double-tap toggles the scroll-back mode on and off. Once it's activated, you can drag or swipe the terminal screen to view previous lines (scroll-back mode is automatically triggered by dragging or swiping in full window mode). - On-screen keyboard is activated when you tap the cursor in Mobile devices. - In Mobile devices, tapping a session tab and closing its popup menu without selecting any menu (ex. pressing the Back button) also activates the on-screen keyboard. - Some features are disabled or hidden for Windows 10 Mobile devices based on its available memory (ex. background option may not available on smartphones with less than 2GB of memory).

Features:

  • Use Address Book to manage servers and customize their connection settings including Auto Login and Startup Macro
  • Pin address book entries and folders to Start screen for quick access
  • Use Command Macro to create simple send/wait type script files
  • Automatically display graphic outputs from server software that supports Tektronix 4014 terminal commands for drawing lines and images such as "gnuplot"
  • Supports X11 forwarding for SSH sessions
  • Supports serial communication over USB-to-Serial adapters, Bluetooth virtual serial ports and etc. (on-board serial ports commonly found in legacy computers are NOT supported)
  • Supports Bluetooth/RFCOMM communication (Example with Windows IoT: http://choung.net/howto/token2shell-md/bluetooth-iot-example/)
  • Upload or download files via SFTP/SCP hybrid custom engine that maximizes transfer speed

The lag between when you hit a key and when it is properly handled is OUT OF CONTROL. I'm connected to my home server over SSH and running a command with sudo, and I can type my entire password and have it appear, unmasked, before it realizes it shouldn't be showing and removes it. Same with editing text in vim: navigation keystrokes show as typed characters, then the cursor moves. Unusable.

So what makes this better or even an alternative to Cygwin? except that it costs money and doesn't get anywhere near what Cygwin can do which is give you as close to a Linux command line in windows as it gets. I use Cygwin as my main terminal, even more than powershell in Windows. (They are open source and non profit i don't work for them or anything) You offer nothing but an alternative to telnet. This is just for ssh... basically. Idiots using putty aren't going to gain much....

I picked this up because I needed to talk to a Bluetooth serial device. I was able to output the stream to a file to submit for troubleshooting. Would highly recommend.

As the title said, T2S/MD is the best 3rd party productivity app I have ever bought. However, I still have to use ****** on desktop to connect some server via SOCKS proxy. Would T2S/MD support that? Thanks!

Beautifully designed, easy to use. Only feature I'd like to see added is syncing configs between PC/Phone

Token2Shell is well worth the price. My only issue is that there doesn't seem to be a way to sync the address book between desktop and mobile.

Multiple terminals, excellent X11 forwarding, Especially Drag and Drop to upload files to the directory you're currently at. Its that easy - drag the file from your host into the shell window. Wow. I had some issues getting my X11 forwarding working (turned out to not be their fault BTW) and I received detailed, timely and relevant support. I highly recommend this for anyone that needs ssh robust ssh access, file transfer and X11 forwarding capabilities (much better than putty IMO).
