Klondike is a solitaire card game. Many people refer to Klondike as "solitaire".
Klondike uses a standard 52-card deck of playing cards (without Jokers), one upturned card is dealt on the left of the playing area, then six downturned cards (from left to right). On top of the downturned cards, an upturned card is dealt on the left-most downturned pile, and downturned cards on the rest until all piles have an upturned card. The piles should look like the figure to the right.
The four foundations (light rectangles in the upper right of the figure) are built up by suit from Ace (low in this game) to King, and the tableau piles can be built down by alternate colors, and partial or complete piles can be moved if they are built down by alternate colors also. Any empty piles can be filled with a King or a pile of cards with a King. The point of the game is to build up a stack of cards starting with 2 and ending with King, all of the same suit. Once this is accomplished, the goal is to move this to a foundation, where you have previously placed the Ace of that suit. Once you have done this, you have "finished" that suit- the goal being, of course, to finish all suits, at which time you will have won.
With standard scoring method, each new game starts off at 0 points. Each card that is moved to the foundation receives 10 points. Each card that is moved to a tableau column received 5 points. Each card that is turned over in the tableau column receives 10 points. Move a card from the foundation piles is a loss of 15 points. When the Draw 3 option is on is a loss of 20 points for each pass thought the stock pile, and is a loss of 100 points for each pass through the stock pile for Draw 1 option. A loss of 2 points for eavery 10 seconds of play, a bonus is awarded if the game is won.Bonus points are based on the time taken to win the game, shorter games receive ,larger bonused.
With Vegas scoring, Each game is started with a debt of -52 points representing the score. Each card moved to the foundation pile is awarded 5 points. Then the Draw 3 option is on, 3 passes are allowed through the stock pile, otherwise only one pass is allowed. Then the Vegas cumulative option is on then the point total is maintained between games.
