This app calculates public holidays for a lot of countries and optionally copies them into your calendar.
The following countries are supported (in alphabetical order): Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Mexico, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russia, Slovakia, Slovenia, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, the U.K and the U.S.A.
This app calculates all public holidays of your current location or at a location selected by using a map or picked from a list of countries.
For Germany, you can position your phone in landscape mode to display the public holidays specifically for your current or selected federal state.
The app starts with the current year. Other years can be chosen by flipping with your finger to the left and right.
You can copy the displayed public holidays into your calendar.
You can pin secondary live tiles onto the start screen which bookmark the public holidays of countries you need most.
If today is a holiday in at least one of the supported countries, the information will be shown on the application's live tile. Furthermore, the live tile includes information about current calendar week (according to your defined region settings) and Standard Time / Daylight Saving Time changes in your current time zone.
You can optionally include your live tile information as notifications into your lock screen.
Live tile operation and launch of the app by pinned secondary tiles or selection of countries using the list do not use any location or data services and can thus be savely used abroad without any data roaming cost concerns.
Exception: You have explicitly enabled the automatic positioning by using the corresponding menu item.
Privacy policy:
When you select the menu item "use current location", your location service is used ONCE and your location is part of an anonymous Bing Maps call to resolve the country you are located at for the calculation of public holidays. The name of the country is stored locally on your phone. If you explicitly select the menu item "ENABLE automatic positioning", your current position gets updated periodically. The location service is NEVER used outside of these specific requests initiated by you (even not in the background task of the live tile). Your position is not shared with any other service. The app does not store or share any other data.
