I like using it when I know I have a trip coming up and I want to know the basics. It really helps for fast, easy learning. Right now I'm brushing up on French, which I haven't studied in 5 years, but its coming back really fast. The audio, visual aids really help.

Wonderful language-learning app! I found it easy to get motivated in learning my target language because of this app- it's rewarding, easy to navigate, and it understands the dynamics of language-learning. I recommend supplementing these lessons with outside conversational audio pieces, from YouTube or other sites.

Using duolingo is like learning naturally. One does not even realize that their skills are being built without stress and needless repetition. This program does not rely on wrote memory like so many others. It helps me to stay at a level of proficiency with just a little effort each day.

I really enjoy this app, because the courses are clear and easy to follow. Each lesson builds on what you learned in earlier lessons. You can go back and refresh your skills and continue on. The only thing that keeps me from rating it with 5 stars is that I can't access a Spanish - English dictionary when they use words that weren't covered yet. There's no help or hint button. Otherwise, I like the program.

As compared to the duolingo website - which has the same functionality - i find this app personally lacking. The three main points that would need to be changed (in my opinion) are: a) Add the "my answer should be accepted" functionality to the app b) Introduce the same feature as on the website that multiple choice questions can be ticket by pressing the number buttons c) also show the overall progress - as for example an increase in level within the app

The app is lovely and works well, but it's dated and far behind the iOS and Android apps in terms of features. I'd love for it to use the more "modern" scoring system and the updated assets of the other apps!

Great concept and execution. Daily practice is key, and the methods of learning is natural. I started much too late, 3 weeks before my first vacation trip to Italy, but even this brief intro was helpful, and I'm enjoying it so much I'm continuing after returning home.

This is an excellent way to learn a new language. It gives small lessons that can be done in a short amount of time. Nothing is complicated. It will take time, but this is very easy to incorporate into your day.

Counterintuitive, clunky, almost Metro-style layout, and still using the old 3-heart lesson system from years ago. I love using Duolingo on the web, but the Windows app hasn't been updated for years.

Wish it had some more of the functionality that is exposed on the website. Sometimes I wonder how it decides which sections to review. I've long since completed the basics of Italian, but every once in a while it pops up for review even though all the relevant vocabulary is included in later sections...

Good app for learning a second language

So great absolutely love it. I only wish it had more languages. I'm really interested to learn Japanese, but I understand the difficulties of formatting anything not using roman lettering. Definitely a must have app, and it works great on the Windows phone.

Easy to use and fun. Very creative sentences to learn verb conjugation! Kudo's to the engineers and academics who developed this program.

I like everything about it. but would like to see a better more visable progress interface plus a section which tracks the words and phrases missed where one could correct his mistakes without encountering words he already knows.

I've been using Duolingo on my Android devices for years. It's a great way to keep in touch with my language learning. When I saw there was an app for Windows, I decided to give it a try. As compared to the Android app, there are some gaps. The Windows app doesn't have any speaking exercises. And it's not nearly as forgiving as the Android app for things like misspellings. I sort of take that as a good thing, except when I have to restart an exercise because I ran our of hearts. I've also noticed a few content errors. In one case, my response was perfect; it agreed with the response from the app, but yet it was marked wrong. In another case, the "correct" answer was patently wrong. And there's no way in the Windows app to connect with the Duolingo community to comment on a given exercise, or compare answers with others. Still, it's a good tool. Looking forward to seeing some improvements in it soon!

I really like the app because it let's me manage the level of learning I can do per day. It helps me with pronunciation and images and although I didn't think I could form small phrases from the beginning, it proves me I can do that. Really like it!
