Comments for Binder

I can't download any of my documents or even open the ones that I already downloaded. If they will fix it soon I will give a higher rating.

This app works well for me and has a great design! It's nice that my school supports syncing with this app through courseden.

Anytime means when you're connected to a wifi. You wont be learning with this on your flight/train/bus home. Seriously, why cant it add simply my files offline?

The crashing does happen. However, I think this is due to the bad internet from my school. When I switched to data, everything was smooth. Great app for college students! The design is not too intuitive, however, not impossible to learn. Must have if your school use D2L.

I created a binder -- that was easy -- and tried 3 times to add documents. Out of 5 documents attempted, one succeeded. The others all ended in error messages to "try again". Trying again didn't work. This app is a waste of time.

cant rotate pdfs a basic feature that makes using the app so difficult without it

One of the biggest issues I have is the lack of PDF rotation. As a student, a significant number of my readings are scanned and distributed sideways, the ability to rotate these documents is imperative. There is also a long load time for highlights and other annotations when opening and closing documents when I am online. this load time is not present when I have my wireless turned off, so I can only assume it's an issue with Binder's cloud system. (this is a layman speculation) Fortunately, these are issues which could easily be addressed in a nearby update. The overall function of the app is fantastic, and is as far as I know, the only free pdf reader on Win8 store that allows for highlighting in multiple colors. Binder, as an organization tool is top notch. It's simple, clean, and the interface size is perfect for smaller screens i.e.: a tablet. The only thing else I can think of would be more color options for categories. Overall, a good app with the potential to be a great app.

Although I had planned on using this app for organizing and annotating my papers, there is no inherent support for the SP3 stylus - requiring me to press the write button every time I need to annotate. Once I'm done, I need to press another button again to accept my changes. Its a good concept of organizing all my study materials, but the workflow seems so Desktop.

I assumed the app would save my work automatically like most apps on the cloud do. As a software developer, I know this is basic functionality that is relatively easy to implement if you utilize object oriented programming principles (standard industry practice). The only way you can save your work is by clicking the three dots in the lower right hand corner of the window, and then clicking the arrow that appears in the top left corner. I only know about this through trial and error. I spent a few hours highlighting and annotating a PDF only to find in the morning that my work had been deleted.

I worked 30 minutes to annotate a document. 1. I exported it several times (with annotations) and each time the resulting pdf didn't have my annotations. 2.I tried to press ctrl+s to auto save the document. Nothing happened. 3. Tried to look for a save button, couldn't find one. 4.I thought "ok, I'll try going back to this document from the main screen." Nope, when I went back everything was deleted. Really frustrating that I was completely helpless and couldn't save annotations no matter what I tried!! Improvements: Would like this app to have an option to sync annotated files with original folder on the computer. Willing to change my rating after they've fixed the problem w/ saving annotations.

This is a great idea that seems like it is working, until it loses all of your notes on any document and constantly is asking you to sign in. After trying to contact the company, they do not respond to your questions, and as a result I have lost three weeks worth of graduate work. Save yourself the headache and find another program that works.

Nice app, really helps organize documents from my classes!

Summary: This app is GOLD, I can't believe it's free. Seriously, finding this app on the Windows app store is like finding gold in the dung heap. Background: I was looking for an app to organize my textbooks, workbooks and other course materials, and then allow me to annotate, create notes and flashcards from the same app. Unlike the iPad where you can find multiple competing apps to do those things, this is the only one in the Windows store. Thus, while this app is not perfect there's really no alternative. Functions: This app can organize non DRM PDF files. It retains the bookmarks and table of contents structure, unlike other apps that only opens PDF and completely destroy the document structure. The ability to organize the files in a collection, enabling the students to organize everything by subject and by school term. The annotation support makes this app INVALUABLE for the surface pro 3. You can work with workbooks as if printed on paper. I'd pay for more storage.

I just finished going through the process of annotating a 12 page essay using the "free draw" feature. There are no places that give the option to save the annotations, so I assumed they would save on their own. Lucky for me, none of them saved at all.

Great app, I would like to see if you can add PDF access.

Yes this app is a lot like oneNote however what I have found helpful is in some of my classes there are options to download my teachers powerpoint straight onto binder which synces with my tablet and my phone without having to physically put it in onenote, will see how it works

...so I can't really expect too much from it. Almost has all the components correct except that I think certain documents don't open due to the sheer size in MB. Has potential though. I'll likely keep the app since there isn't really one better at this point except XoDo Doc. Still wish I could use my Surface Pro 3 Erase Button and also change the color of the "ink".

The problem is that for opening new file it must be online

The UI is beautiful and the app works good on my SP3, please make the app universal. It would be nice to have it on Windows phone.

This app is neither very good or very bad. I personally think there needs to be more colors to make your collections look like. And you should also be able to edit and/or make a document within the program. Otherwise it is a pretty good app.

First- I'm dead tired so sorry for being brief. This app is beautiful and I love the organizational options available. However, it seems to have trouble adding files from my old computer (via network folder option). I love that you can add images, but a small preview in the list would be nice, in place of the image icon. It would be awesome if you could set a certain page of a PDF file to do the same thing, too. My half-asleep brain can't think of much else to say, except for thank you for the beautiful app!

A great app let you organize all your PDF books and docs with ease, and it even allows you to make notations directly! The only draw back experienced by far is that if you want to make tags it only you to put numbers, spaces, or English letters. It doesn't allow you to put German umlauts or Chinese characters, or any non-Latin character in any language. Fix that, and then comes five stars!

I'm using a Surface Pro 3 and for some reason, this app won't let me make an account or sign in when I made an account from the website. Until this is fixed, I can't really review this app properly. Update 08/13/2014 After updating today, I can finally log in to my account.

How is this really different from OneNote? I print/scan lots of stuff into OneNote and have access to it on Windows, IOS, Windows Phone etc.. plus typed/written notes. Kind of feels redundant though the UI is quite nice.

This is a great addition to Windows 8.1. I spend a lot of time reading, reviewing and commenting on PDF books and reports. Binder allows the organization of topical documents for easy access. I do have a gripe about the requirement of uploading the PDF to the Binder website. I get that this is a feature, but it should be optional as all my docs are available across devices already via OneDrive. This app could also gain more traction if designed for business users, instead of just students... the sharing of binders could go a long way too.

Won't let me sign up

This app is very well made, fast, beautiful, allowed me to really organize my PDFs, sync between machines, and the read experience is great on touch devices. Feature request 1: improve the read experience on non-touch by allowing the up/down keys or page-up/page-down to scroll. Feature request 2: improve the integration with onedrive so it doesn't re-download the PDFs to the app folder but use the same onedrive folder.

Awesome app for any student or just someone who likes to stay organized. Beautiful and fully featured. I just hope a future update comes for changing view modes.

Problems so far with this app: 1. Can't delete documents or collections... 2. Can't move documents into collections...
