Love the Windows Store install, on small glitch had to reboot to get it to work then flawless. So much easier doing it with the Store. Rock on Linux in Windows 10. I did successful install to my SSD on my older Sony Vaio I use to test builds !

Installation Failed

It's excellent. Now I can use bash command line without having to reboot my computer or run a vm.

My system drive is an SSD and is 550. Windows holds half of that, which leaves less than the amount of free space for the use of Ubuntu to be installed. Should have the option of installing it on another drive.

Also getting an error after getting my Windows 10 updated to developer mode (spent hours updating just for Ubuntu), yet disappointed to see: Installing, this may take a few minutes... Installation Failed! Error: 0x8007007e Press any key to continue...

The open DEV community integration has really made this windows something else. Crashed the machine with the update till I reinstalled the AMD video card. Just FYI...

Followed the (limited) installation instructions, launch the app, and receive the following error. No google results for this relating to this app, but obviously multiple other users have received the same error. Also unable to launch "Ubuntu" from a cmd or bash prompt, as other install tutorials recommend. Waste of an app, as it is now. Installing, this may take a few minutes... Installation Failed! Install to SSD failed with Error: 0x80070003, cant install to sd card. Installing to SSD, no SD reader in system. Did run powershell command as listed.

Follow the directions and the application will work. Install the app and then run the PowerShell command. The machine will reboot to update and then use the link in the start or use the command of Ubuntu and it will start.

For those reading this, for select-to-copy and right-click-to-paste, simply right click on taskbar > properties and check "Quick Edit Mode".

This distro is based on Debian. It's almost as good as Debian itself. The execution and polish are outstandingly strong. These days, I feel Canonical's value-add to Ubuntu is tolerable, (although it had previously been undesirable in some cases).

Would love to use this, however after MS store said it was done I get a message on launch that says : Installing, this may take a few minutes... Installation Failed! errpr: 0x8007007e press any key to continue... at this point it is done and goes no where else. any suggestions on how to correct.

Been looking forward to this for a long time! Well done Canonical and Microsoft!

I normally only have Dual Boot Linux for BASH... no longer needed and a much smaller footprint. APT-GET has access to all the core features that are useful from BASH from SSH to NMAP. Microsoft, good call.
