Compared to the 3rd party TED apps, I like the design and layout of the app but this suffers from the same issue as other TED apps. The lack of background playing, I normally listen to TED talks while working and I can't use this when I'm in desktop mode. Other than that I would also like the option of HD video for when I do watch the talks. Other than that I think a great app.

A web wrapper? Why not develop a beautiful metro / modern Windows phone app? Vsoft unofficial TED Mobile app includes offline viewing and a much better user experience.

Really bad app, just a browser wrapper. Going to ted.com in IE works better.

This app is amazingly bad. No web-apps please!

This app is really great and inspiring, nonetheless it crashes sometimes leaving just the blanck background, and it doesn't have an actual search bar... if they would fix that then I'll give the 5 stars

Playback is broken. Video starts dropping frames and is pretty much unwatchable after a minute.

TED is an excellent way to gain insight into important topics and continue to learn. The speeches are just amazing. Highly recommend this app.

I love the way TED both challenges my existing belief system and expands my base of knowledge.

You can find interesting information on nearly every subject and none of them are boring. Watch with an open mind.

Very slow

Quite horrible app. Way too slow even on my Lumia 1020, no way to search talks, no offline mode, no way to listen only to talks. I recommend "TED Mobile" instead. And TED better cooperates with one of the unofficial TED developers than continuing this dreadful app.

Many influential speeches on a variety of issues that affect us all as a whole.

Please make a real app.

How lazy of TED to actually just create a webpage wrapper for an app?

Not good

The layout of this app is excellent. Navigation is easy and everything is easy to find. But there is no option to choose the quality of video or subtitles. Therefore the video is low quality and I find difficulty in understanding what is being said.

Very nice app. Easy to navigate. Gives relevant information and transcript. Video quality is also good enough to watch on my surface.

A wrapper app? Really?

Easy access to the latest Ted Talks. For those who value knowledge and want to be inspired, this is a must have app

TED is great, balanced, with the brightest of speakers who offer new insights and inspire to create own perceptions in ways commercially driven broadcast stations never could. Broadcasters are fine if you want to enjoy the couch - but TED not only keeps you awake - it awakens parts of you that you didn't realize were asleep. Through this increased awareness, it is easier to realize that we can act and we are the only ones responsible to act. TED inspires me to have a deeper attitude towards life, to participate and co-create in more ways. The TED platform is a new Athens and the speakers are the new Socrates urging us to "realize" and think so to do. There are other great platforms as well - like National Geographic or Wikipedia. But few have such a capability to influence others. For me, the greatest example of a real TED impact is Ken Robinson's question if schools killed productivity. They did. Look at silicon valley: it's the creativity that makes it successful. Enjoy it!

As great as the Windows 8 app is, the WP8 app is unusable. Laggy, missing features like no search amd no categories, and design flaws. Hope this gets updated soon.

Love Ted, but starting to think the speech library leans more left. I would like a balance of opinions.
