Playon can stream network shows to Roku, no subscription or sign on with your cable provider required. It could cast any video on the internet, or any media on your PC to your TV. The downside you must have your computer on to broadcast, where anyone in your WiFi range can get on with no password required or possible to add. I have emailed support to ask about the security risk, and they don't give me a good answer. I say the risk is fairly small, but it is there. The PlayLater feature allows you to record streaming shows and watch them off line. You can subscribe (withot paying) to network shows, to have them automatically downloaded the day after they come out (that's at 12:01 AM) while you are sleeping. The downside is that all networks do not perfectly all the time. Secondly the video it does record are sized about 850 MB for 45 min and that is just too large to same for any amount of time + there is a 2 second clip showing your email and IP at the beginning and end of each video

Plays my recordings with no issues. Would be nice to setup recordings from it instead of the server itself. Over all a great experience.
