    * Maintenance release (no new features) in order to update code to use new versions of APIs Previously: - Improved framerate of pan/zoom/tilt operations. - Added new "Slot machine" mode to give you total control over the next Hit card (for both you and the dealer). Enable this from Game Options. - Fixed bug where dealer wouldn't continue playing when there were first/third base players, but you busted - Added a "Dealer Hit Soft 17" option. This is the new default, since that's the rule in play at most casinos these days. NOTE: The Strategy Engine does not take this setting into consideration in this version. - App Bar menu changes - New advertising units for normal and tablet mode. House Ad(s) will be displayed when offline or when Microsoft is not serving ads. - Removed 3-deck shoe option, and added 8-deck shoe. Reduced penetration on 6 and 8 deck shoes to leave about 1.5 decks before a new shoe. - Hard Failures (crashes) will automatically be reported when the app next starts so that we can be proactive about fixing those nasty bugs for you! - Expanded into new markets - Added option to include first base and third base computer players in the deal as a way to get more cards out of the shoe. You will find these new options in the Game Options (in the Settings Charm).

Knave Blackjack

Should you split those 7s against a 10? Hit on that 12 against a 2? Double down on an ten against a 3? Infrequent scenarios like these can paralyze a player who hasn't spent enough time practicing! Knave Blackjack is a realistic game of multi-deck casino-style blackjack that allows you to learn and practice basic strategy before hitting the real tables. Cards are drawn at random, and win/loss rate is comparable to actual Casino conditions as validated by the author and the many testers. This game is for entertainment purposes only, and does not award or consume real money or require that in-game chips be purchased using real money. If you go bust, then simply hit Restart, and your bankroll resets to 500 chips!

Features:

  • User-configurable from 2-8 decks in the shoe
  • Built-in strategy engine with hinting, proper play tracking/reporting, and audible feedback for proper play (enabled via settings charm)
  • Insurance can be disabled via the game options (found in Settings Charm)
  • Zoom in, zoom out, rotate the perspective, and pan the table to get just the right point of view
  • Side bet for more action (enabled via the game options)
  • Tablet-mode (enabled via settings charm) that moves buttons to the edges of the screen for easy access while holding a tablet.
  • Have a say in how the game evolves: feedback, suggestions, and bug reports are very welcomed by the author!
  • Slot Machine" mode to give you more control over the cards drawn for Hits

Shows the hold card, refreshes bank right away, allows more than one split on pairs, easy on the eyes-it's just great. Would be perfect if more seats could be played.

There are just a few bugs which cause me to give it just 4 stars out of 5, but I hope they are easy fixes: 1) When I am dealt a blackjack, I notice that the dealer continues hitting the cards even if it is a position where it has made it to the threshold of 17-20, resulting in a loss of valuable cards. 2) For the poker sidebets (which is my FAVORITE part of this particular version of blackjack), it doesn't pay for each straight; it seems as if it has to be all black or all red to count for the bonus. 3) Finally, the most worrisome of my troubles is that I frequently seem to touch the screen of my Surface RT in some particular way that makes the entire table portion go black, and only makes it so I can see the action buttons. However, since I can't see my cards, I have no idea which choice to make! It sucks too, because I once was up to a balance of over $10,000 while practicing, and was forced to lose it and reinstall. :( These fixes would definitely make it a 5+ star rate!

I'm the author. Since there's no way to directly reply to a review, I need to just put this out there: I'm assuming that the 1-star reviews are shills for other apps trying to reduce my ranking while improving theirs. If there's an issue with randomization, please let me know (email/twitter/facebook are listed in the game's About page in the Settings Charm)! I take such claims very seriously, and have even added a feature to allow the player to control randomization ("slot machine" mode).

Disclaimer: I am a dev for a different blackjack game in the Windows Store. I have to say that this is a pretty solid blackjack game. I obviously think there is at least one better ;), but this is a good game and the developer obviously cares about his players. I think the criticisms by some are overdone and if you like blackjack, this is a good addition to your game library. Definitely worth checking out.

can't we get a game that plays with a random shuffle? should not be hard, the programmers of this game did not even try to hide it...

Great Blackjack game. Just like the casinos. Good graphics and sound! I would have given it 5 stars if it had an option to play multiple hands!

This is the worst blackjack design ever

To address the previous comment about bets on a push, what's actually happening is that your bet is returned to the chip total before the re-bet it is taken back out. The end result after this accounting measure is the exact chip total as before the push. I've reported a couple bugs to the author that were addressed quickly. Overall, this is the best blackjack game I've seen for Windows 8.

If you like playing with normal odds, only betting small amounts, this program is fine. If you prefer large bets, don't buy this program! It is skewed to allow wins of the maximum bet in only about 1 out of 20 times!!!!!

It is a very good version of blackjack. There is a fatal flaw however. It subtracts from your chips on a push. This bug makes it unreliable and gives the dealer too big of an advantage.
