TLDR: Website layout is better and it has functionality problems. I wrote and copied this for both FB and Messenger Full of issues and differences to the site. It's a full screen app, it needs a desktop and app mode if they want to try layouts like this. You can't copy images and it uses more resources than your regular browser. It's slow to load initially, and to use over all. It also runs in the background but only sporadically sends you updates. Predictive text is nonexistent and it has issues connecting with devices. I've had camera issues as well as "roboting" with the mic, it should be noted that these issues DO NOT occur when I'm using FB in browser. There are other connectivity issues; not being shown as "signed in" in messenger; random downtimes where my phone updates minutes before the app; it's just a generally bad app to use, This app needs a significant amount of work, uninstalling and based on this experience will not install unless the site itself is taken down.

Not bad. Slow to start and can't do live video.

When I use the app for FB Live, I can play the video back locally after I've finished the recording, but once I post to my page, the sound is garbled. And those that are watching live can't hear it either. I can post pre-recorded videos through the app, just not FB live videos.

I do not like the fact that I have been downloaded this app and have seen it install but have not downloaded even in the presence of wi-fi.It still marked paused unable to download.I do not know if it due to the inability to download or if if it not compatible with my above device. But some how several attempt to download effort have been made by me .Yet they have all been of no avail. So I now just gave up .On trying to download. Now recently I have heard that a new updated version of window 10 mobile have recently been released from Microsoft so I do want to know if my device model could qualify for that version or is it in a program form or type.If so is it expensive the software version .How much does it cost and how can I obtain access of such software or purchase it.The upgrade level type.Perhaps if I am able to obtain such update after which I may be fortunate enough to download this app.

Installed it on two different PCs and both have the same "No Internet Connection" error. I've tried all the troubleshooting recommended on the internet and still no good. It only works for a brief time right after install then the no internet errors start and the app stops updating.

I get this email. Thank you for using Messenger. We regret to inform you that by the end of March, the version of the app you're using will no longer be supported and will no longer allow you to send and receive messages. So then I find out the new version is windows phone 10 only and does not run on a 8.1 phone. So now facebook is worthless to me... Thanks for cutting me off from my family...

The application does what it says on the tin and allows you to access the site from within a UWP app provided directly from Facebook. All the features are there with the exception of messenger which you need the specific stand-along app now. For some strange reason, Facebook seems to have opted to pack in a WebKit HTML engine within its app instead of using the EdgeHTML available to all UWP apps which adds a significant amount of bloat to the app making it over 200 MB in total install size and the app often hangs a lot worse than other UWP apps. This choice may have been done to save time and keep stuff cross-platform for little difference in code and passing the buck to the user in terms of non-optimized apps. Facebook should look into optimization of this app in the future as that heavy side dissuades users to opt for just surfing Facebook in the browser instead as this certainly does not help Facebook's reputation of ignoring system standards and bloating their apps.

I love using the window store app. it doesn't use too much memory of my system. the reason i don't use more often is because so much stuff are still broken : SPECIALLY the most hover over a post link or see more post. if those are fixed i don't see any reason why not use it instead of the web : it is faster, it doesn't use much memory and pinning to the start menu makes it always accessible.

I have a gaming laptop and this app is slow to very slow to load and do everything else! Stick to Facebook on the web browser its much faster!

It works fine if I can get it to load !!! I try to open it and the page comes up and then goes right off !!! Why ?? I like the app , but it does me no good if I can't open it up !!!

I would prefer the app since it's more stable in groups and nested threads. But it wastes so much space. The font could be larger. There seems to be no way to increase the size.

opening Facebook (and Messenger) on a browser is faster than using the actual app

Highlight Misspelled words and Autocorrect features are not available when composing a post on the desktop platform. I have reported this bug a million times. These apps have long long way to go.

Every update to this app seems to regress it further. As of the most recent update the app no longer suspends in the background, no longer has swipe gestures to navigate between views and lists 2GB of RAM (seriously?) as a system requirement. It's nothing more than a bad port of the iOS app. For anyone considering abandoning Windows Phone for the seemingly greener pastures of iOS or Android, I strongly recommend doing yourself a favor by ditching Facebook instead.

It looks really pretty and I like the way it behaves when it works correctly. Unfortunately, it crashes often (loading clicked facebook links from other apps, loading large photo albums, loading live video) and takes over 40 seconds to load. Inconsistent behaviour with video, both youtube (can't click buttons, and when you can, in the case of quality/CC/speed, nothing happens) and native facebook video (freezing, crashing, cannot save).

Its insane that my operating system will install an app as invasive to my privacy as Facebook without telling me, and then hijack the handling of facebook.com links OS-wide. Utter trash, hopefully someone from Facebook reads this and reconsiders the decisions that lead them here.
