Comments for Amazon Kindle

I can't sign in to read my books. It always says email address or password invalid. However, on the website it works....

I recently refreshed my Windows mobile phone and re-installed all my favorite apps...until now, the Kindle app was near the top of my list. After re-installing, I attempted to sign-in to my Amazon account and register my device. Password not accepted. Ok, sometimes fat-fingering happens, so I tried it again. No love. I double-checked my password, signing in via my laptop; the password wad good. While I was on my laptop I decided to clear my registered device list (there were some old devices listed, along with my current phone; I cleared then all). Later I want back to register the Kindle app on my Windows phone and had the same issue. Contacting support, they sent a slew of 10 minute temporary passwords, none worked. So, basically the app is absolutely useless for those who need to register their device...that's everyone downloading it to a new, or refreshed, device. I'm hoping that the Amazon Dev team will fix the issue soon; I have some eBooks that I'm dying to read!

The sign in doesn't work. Impossible to "register" device.

Can't login anymore, requires amazon.com user id? Can log in to amazon.com just fine in explorer.

Hung up at registration . Can't open app. Will uninstall.

The app has been on my phone for over a year and suddenly froze/kicked me out. No books! No error message! No email! These steps might work for you. Delete and reinstall app. Create and account. Login, at this point you'll get an error message. Check your email for the security code. Sign in with it. All should be good. This worked for me. Give 3 stars for NO warning this was coming. No email, message, or note in the app store. Thanks for trying to keep my info safe. Don't make it such a chore to figure out!

Changed phone and now can not register...

Amazon customer support pretty much told me the mobile app is no longer supported which explains why there are no new features or cannot log in. As a kindle books owner, and windows phone user, my only resort to read MY OWN BOOKS is to remove the kindle DRM. Just Google it, use Calibri desktop app to convert your kindle books to Epub, then use one of many quality epub reader apps in windows store, then you can essentially access your kindle collection. I save mine in a OneDrive folder. You can also read library books in new Overdrive app called Libby. Works great 😊 highly recommended.

Great reading app, 1000's of books, easy to use, and goes everywhere you go!

I guess it's going to be time to switch from Kindle to Nook. Your new two factor crap which sends the texted security codes DOES NOT WORK AT ALL! Uninstalled. Way to lose a customer who has been around since your inception!

Please fix this

Works great, but doesn't tell you it is a two step process to register. When login falls, go to email for Amazon account and enter code Amazon sent you instead of your password. No indication given that you need to do this...

It worked for a short time and then one time said I need to log in. No matter what I try it will not log in. I have tried detaching devices etc. Nothing seems to work. Frustrating to no end.

Just like all other bad reviews, I can not log In. The app does not recognize my email.

Content slowly disappeared e.g. Every few weeks a book would no longer be accessible. Entire library disappeared. Deregistered app instance, uninstalled it, reinstalled it and now I can't even register new instance. Lame. I have been ripped off, robbed and there is no form of recourse that doesn't involve pulling my own teeth out... Horrid UX.

Stable and well designed, but it's missing options like adding/eiditing highlights and notes. Since I usually read for educational purposes the app isn't useful enough to keep it installed

I used to LOVE this app until about May 31st when it decided that I needed to reregister my device. Now it is stuck in an endless loop to have me input my credentials only to be told that I am not recognized, over and over and over again 😞

Missing features: • Search • Select text • Library management for large library (no search, scan)

I'm very happy it exists (big plus). It often doesn't respond when you click menu items or click to open a book. When it does respond it's often more than 5 seconds after the click. When reading books there are lines of text missing every 10 or so pages - when you change reading settings it shows up again.

What are amazon doing? I can't logging with my id and pw. Horrible.

20 June 2017

I've followed instructions, I've used the two factor password they emailed me. My entire Kindle library just became unusable overnight since the phone was the only device I used for reading eBooks.

I received my 650 and could not get the Kindle app to work. I spent an hour or so chatting with Amazon Customer service and they could not help. I purchased a replacement android, which I was not a fan of, and decided on a whim to try again. It works.

tried many times, windows phone 10, and won't sign me in. tried my password on different device, and it works... because this app panicked me for a moment that my amazon account had been hacked. it keeps saying that my sign in password or email is not recognized. and i definitely put in the correct ones, over and over. so what the heck is going on? it is not connecting with the server, it doesn't take enough time to reject my sign in, the reject is instantaneous.

Update: After seeing multiple automated temporary password emails from Amazon, I entered the passcode in the email, and I was allowed access. I downloaded a couple of books, and time will tell if the app is worth it. Tried numerous times today to register and it keeps telling me my password or username is wrong. Contacted support. Lumia 950 user.

App makes reading convenient but won't open upon installing. I've installed it on two devices. I know now to skip straight to "Forgot my password", enter my email, then code amazon emails me, then I choose "Set new password". As long as I'm not already logged in to amazon this process will work.

avatar

18 June 2017

I couldn't get past the first screen. It would not accept my amazon credentials and then wouldn't accept the temporary code that they sent me a minute before. Uninstalling.

Absolutely worthless. At least on windows phone. Have had it for years and just dealt with all the bugs. Suddenly it wont download books and when i tried to uninstall and reinstall it keeps saying that my log in is wrong.

The app wont log in with your username and password. It will say they're not recognized but Amazon will send you a one-time code to use as password without the app mentioning about it so check your inbox
