I was looking for some amateur and cb stations, found 1 in my area, also excellent fire, ems local broadcasts. I paid $2.99 and am satisfied! Hopefully more local frequencies will be available soon.

Too many people don't understand how short wave works. Not all stations broadcast constantly. That doesn't mean they don't work. It just means no one is talking. Also, the volunteers who provide the content may be having technical difficulties...or the repeaters from which the content is passed on may be having them. Give them time. They'll fix it. And the Price (free) is certainly right!

Not like the old day scanners at all, can not get any local. No Sheriff, no city Police and no Fire. I am in Santa Cruz County, California. Need County Sheriff, County/City Fire, Santa Cruz City, Scotts Valley City, Capitola City, Watsonville City Police, and Local CalFire.

starting with getting the stations right... clicking around on different stations i'd estimate at least 75% don't even work... not sure who's giving this good ratings...
