Comments for 1Password Alpha

I use 1Password on my iPad and Windows Phone 10. The vault is stored on Dropbox. iPad does it perfectly, no problems. The Windows app doesn't let me crate new password entries (while this IS working when using a 1Password account and their cloud service). Would be nice if you fixed that. Apart from that, one of the few password safes I can use on different platforms without making real stunts.

It Finally works GREAT

No real browser integration. Display issues. Duplicate items shown when sharing between local and team vaults. Slow visual updates, no feedback on syncing progress, unable to edit entries in local vault (via file system or dropbox) etc... Lack of browser support is inexcusable at this stage since this is the only way to use 1Password Teams/Families with Windows that I'm aware of.

Trying to sync with dropbox, only see a black screen. That's how far I come, uninstalled..

it says installed.

Since it won't execute, I find it is worthless to me.

Really glad to see agilebits working hard on the windows platform, this app is way better than the previous one!

avatar

Be warned this doesn't sync to a web browser plugin like the old version. You can only access websites through this app. 1Password needs to fix this ASAP.

Dropbox sync and the iris login work great! Thank you for a great app!!

I downloaded the app and it just won't work, it won't even let me sign in.

This app is barely alpha, let alone beta. QR Scanning: Only works with a camera. What? Why not allow desktop QR image scan? Chrome doesn't work? Seriously? I know, all Microsoft's fault. Figure it out. Unstable. Crashes almost every use. Basically, the current incarnation of 1password and Windows 10 means unless you're willing to jump through a lot of hoops, 1password is a lot of work to make viable. Majorly underwhelmed so far. Will update the review when, hopefully, their Win 10 support doesn't suck so bad.

where was the most comprehensive browser integration from 1password? its gone.. even for a month, I feel like its forverer.

I can rarely open an existing saved password to copy it before the app crashes and I need to restart it. It's become a hope and pray game. I understand this is a beta, but my God, invest in a bit of Windows QA. The version I have on my Mac works well enough luckily.

Unacceptably unpolished. The engine crashes. The UI has weird issues with widget placement and overlays making things look messy. The Chrome App fails to communicate with helper, and the Chrome App is really all I care about. I'd give this tool more stars for its own merit... problem is, I see no real merit. It barely works, when it's not crashing. When will 1Password add a full Chrome-only support tool to its product set? ... going to be hard to leave LastPass for this, even with the new team/family structures.

1password for families is so bad - I went back the free keepass. Password for families is garbage enough - the windows 10 app is 10x worse - it crashes like clockwork 5 seconds after I log in to it. I am going to try and get a refund. Don't waste your time on this.

Long time user of this app, run it on all my mad and windows workstations. Recently switched to windows phone and was waiting on this app and it has not disappointed. Running very well and just received a much needed update where now it's starting to look and feel just like the stupid on all the other platforms. Great job and keep up the good work your doing, much appreciated.

Their product on iOS works fine, but integration integration into the windows platform with the Family/Team product is not usable. This is a far cry from offering as a beta. Latest version (Beta #36) won't run long enough to copy a password out of it to use in a website/etc. Therefore you're left with typing your now secure zillion digit cryptic passwords all the time. Please spend a little time and get the windows version working for family, or go back to your better windows 7 version, and incorporate the family/team features into it. I was much happier with that version with browser integration, but as someone else stated, converting to family has now left me with no solution for M$ platform PC's. Disappointed.

Super thankful that this app has come to Windows10.. One of the few apps that kept me bouncing between iPhone and windows.

This app is more like an alpha release. Using the website is a better option as you get nothing for having this installed except offline access. The browser extension in Chrome does not recognize this app and so I have to log into the app and then find the password I need, copy it and then paste in the browser. That is a lot of work for a program I pay for (I bought 1Password for Families so I could have easy multi platform sharing). I am really hoping to give this a better review in the future, but for now I am leaving this here. I hope the team working on it feels the disappointment I do in their product and is working to correct the problems and short falls in their project.

I'm trying to move my family toward much better password management and ease-of-use, and 1password is the perfect solution. Unfortunately, this Windows 10 app is completely useless. After I sign in to my vault, it crashes when I click anything. Hopefully it's fixed soon, because paying for a family plan that I can't use will be a difficult choice.

When they finally get this app sorted out I might be good, but hold off on buying a family subscription until then!

avatar

7 May 2016

Very unstable. Crashes way too often even for a beta, not to mention numerous other bugs and a great lack of features.

avatar

5 May 2016

I would not even consider this a beta. This app crashes constantly and appears to have no integration with any browsers. I switched to the Family subscription and am now stuck with this for my Surface. How can the Mac product be soooo awesome and this be sooooo bad? Please stop promoting Family/Teams until this app is useable.

avatar

5 May 2016

Unfortunately, the app is crashing a lot, and since the most recent version I cannot add a new login without crashing. It's worth noting that the Windows 10 app has a lower development priority than the apps for OSX and IOS.

Please Agilebits... give us a new build. One time, it crashed and all the information disappeared. I had to reinstall to see them again. I also miss a lot the chrome extension. I have a mac at home and that version is flawless. I will be happy to change my rating when we have a better build.

Since my last review, 1Password has made a concerted effort in fixing and updating the app; 5 times since then. User beware this is beta. No beta software is 5 star worthy. So take any hype with a grain of salt. This is a usable product. I have requirements that some may not. We are testing 1 password for teams, and I already own 1Password for personal use stored in dropbox. So, if this tool doesn't do what is expected (like connect to both databases, update and allow editing) without errors, then I am honest enough to say so. I will not sugar coat a turd. Pros: Nice interface. Can add multiple sources. Can copy entries from one source to another. We tested a migration of a local keyfile with a few hundred entries to the 1Password for teams, and it worked flawlessly. Cons: Menu's don't stay up, which can be frustrating. When searching, if you click an entry it resets the view back to the default. Go the their link for the latest updates, it is updated often.

Feels like this Beta has made very little progress and remains unusable. Crashes are common, no search across vaults, UI for entries gets confused, the list goes on.

I love the design layout of the Windows 10 program version, but I hate the design layout of the app and family version. I think the family "concept" is a great idea but just hate the whole "windows 10 app" design layout. As with most Windows 10 apps, it lacks flexibility and options. It reminds me of the worthless windows 8, which I owned for about a week and went back to windows 7. Again, love the windows 10 program version but hate the design layout of the app and family version. I hope they will merge the windows 10 program version into the family concept. That would be worth purchasing a subscription. Until then I think I will stay away from the app.
